GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG, 11th. May, 1915.
I have the honour to report that under the powers conferred on me by the Order-in-Council of the 26th.October,
1896, I have ordered an Indian named Mohamed Sherif to quit the
Colony and that he left Hongkong for Calcutta on board the S. S.
"Santhia" on the 29th. April, 1915.

Mohamed Sherif was employed in the Indian
Guard at Victoria Gaol from the 18th. May, 1911, to the 4th.
September, 1912, when he resigned. His character was not good. He
is the son of Golam Mustafa, a warder in the Victoria Gaol, and it
was at his father's request that enquiries into his character were
instituted. It was found that he had been sent back to India by his
father after he left the Gaol Service and that he had been given
employment there but had failed to keep it and he returned to Hong-
-kong about 16 months ago. He again obtained employment which he
left, and has for some time been doing nothing. It is known that
he lives with Sikh watchmen and other Indians of that class among
which seditious publications are believed to be circulated and al-
-together his presence in the Colony is undesirable.
